Suffolk County Math League

High School mathematics Competition

Long Island, NY

Welcome to the 2023 - 2024
Suffolk County Mathematics League Competition!

Here is our proposed meet schedule.

    HIGH SCHOOL

Meet 0 – Week of October 16, 2023 *Remote Only (Warmup)
Meet 1 – November 13, 2023 *(In-Person {Hosts Needed} with Remote Option)
Meet 2 – December, 4, 2023 *(In-Person {Hosts Needed} with Remote Option)
Meet 3 – January 8, 2024 (In-Person {Hosts Needed} with Remote Option)
Meet 4 – February 5, 2024 (In-Person {Hosts Needed} with Remote Option)
Meet 5 – March 4, 2024 (In-Person {Hosts Needed} with Remote Option)

Our first meet will be a warm up and it will take place REMOTELY for all teams.

The overwhelming feedback has called for a return to in-person meets.  We are therefor recruiting schools to host the November, December, January, February, and March Meets.  A potential hosting school should secure space for around 100 students along with a space for the coaches to grade the papers.  The host school will be required to make enough copies of the contest for the participants.  Please contact Michael Curry by October 1, 2023 if you would like to host one of the meets listed above.

Please send an email to currymath@gmail.com if you are interested in joining the  league.

Distribution of Contest Materials

Our fourth meet will be fully remote.  You may administer the meet on any day during February 6, 2023.

The meet materials that you will need can be found below.

Each round consisting of 2 questions and is 10 minutes in duration for the pair.

You and your students participate on your own any day you wish during the week mentioned above. The coach will grade the papers and summarize the scoring. The coach will then enter the scores using the Google form below. The password protected question files are provided below.  Announce a two minute warning and a 15 second warning.  Then provide a minute or two for the students to write their answers on the sheet.  Repeat for the 3 rounds.  Note: All students on a particular team must compete at the same time.  We cannot facilitate a split schedule where some students participate at one time while others participate at another time.

You may allow as many students as you wish to take each round,  The highest scoring 5 students can be allocated to the first team.  The next highest scoring 5 students can be allocated to the second team etc.  This is to encourage the maximum participation for your team. If any questions should arise, please contact Michael Curry currymath@gmail.com.
